Thats impressive video. For a sec I thought it was the balloon boy from Colorado again. I have to admit, from a scientific/statistical point of view...given all the billions of stars and galaxies out there, I find it hard to believe that we're the only one's around.

What is overlooked in the momentous occasion of Jacques Plante donning a mask is that it was preceded by the use of the curved stick. Andy Bathgate was one of the first to use it regularly and it was his booming slapshot the hit Plante during that fateful game.

Well Craig, I have to say that my vote certainly goes to the Phillies. They were my all time fav team growing up and the their 1980 world series victory over the KC Royals when I was 10 made me a baseball fan. Their game six victory at home at Veterans Stadium was the most exciting sporting event I had yet witnessed (I was two for the Summit Series). It solidified Steve Carlton, Tug McGraw, Mike Schmidt, Pete Rose and several others as my sports heroes. I started playing organized ball the next spring. The rest, as they say, is history and I've been a lifelong fan of the game, if not one of the Phillies.
History? You want a team with history? This is from wikipedia... The Phillies "are the oldest continuous, one-name, one-city franchise in all of professional American sports, dating to 1883". Pretty good eh? Here's the clincher for you Craig - in all that time, they've only won TWO World Series Championships. And if I know anything about you, it's that you can't resist the underdog.
And yes, the Cards have been around longer, entering the league in 1882, but not really, as they were originally the St. Louis Browns. AND... they've won like TEN WS Titles. Lame.

Think about it man. It doesn't get better than this team for you. They are TOTALLY your new team! You're welcome very much.

And further good news is that you still have a few games to root for them this year as they go after their third title in 126 years. And Boston (my other fav team!) thinks the curse of the Bambino is tough. Yeesh. It ain't nothing.

The regular readers of The Engleson Files might be interested to know that Alice's mother lived through the Cultural Revolution and her comment on the movie was "it was much worse than the movie shows"

It is one of my all-time favourite movies.
