Michael Jackson

Wow. That is all I can really say in hearing the recent news of Michael Jackson’s death. I was certainly never a fan of his music but did fully respect his talents and influence on the music industry. I will never forget the buzz surrounding his Thriller album in 1983 and the 30 minute long horror video that came along with it. I will also never forget the craze of his moonwalk and the sparkly white glove - yes, even a few us Anglo-Saxons in Princeton, BC wore a white glove now and then! But in his passing it is impossible to not reflect upon his life off stage as well. I am not too sure what was going on with him but as he aged he just turned into a weird dude. Him buying the bones of the elephant man, sleeping in oxygen chambers, the face transplants, (allegedly) diddling young children - the insanity just seemed to never end and may even overshadow his brilliant talents as a musician. Was he a product of being a celebrity at too young of an age? Not too sure. He was a talent and the news of his death did affect me but now my only thought of him is: what happened?
