Chang Jiang 750

Well folks, here it is: The Chang Jiang 750 with sidecar. This is the automobile I have dreamed of having ever since the first day I saw my good friend Adrian Conradi drive his around here in Kaifaqu (yes, envy is a powerful force!) Here in China these babies are dirt cheap and, as you can plainly see, are simply beautiful to look at. Now, for the last 3-4 years I have been begging/pleading Kristin to allow me to buy one and bring it back home to Canada, and for the past 3-4 years she has been sluffing me off. Well, thankfully, those days are gone and finally she has agreed to allow me to purchase one; she agrees this bike is perfectly suited for Penticton. So, the plan is this find a bike that is 13-15 years old (to appease Canadian law), buy it, and then fix it up and bring it back home with me once we return. This project will be drawn out, but as you can imagine, I am most excited to be in the game!

  3. I think Aunty Jean’s comment translates into

“Craig, Craig, Craig…. please make sure you take me on a nice long ride through the winding vineyard roads!#@??!”

  4. First off, I need to clarify a few items about my official purchasing and owning this grand bike.

    a. the bike you see is NOT the bike I have bought, I have yet to buy a bike yet and am only in the process of looking.

    b. the entire purchase of the bike (as deemed by Kristin) can be done so ONLY under the guidelines that I fund for it entire out of my own money. Meaning: I will have to find another job, or tutoring, or something to make up this excess cash to buy and fix it up - so my road to success is still very much in doubt. But she has agreed in principle to allow me to buy one, which is big.

So, I have found a guy who sells them second hand in Beijing and I am now actively seeking and assessing which ones I can afford and then I need to figure out a way to earn enough money on my own.

  5. you could start your own Bocce ball league and charge for lessons. Or teach knitting classes. Or have Magnus dance on street corners with a hat on the ground (Kristin I am kidding about that one).

I’d go for Knitting classes - you can teach them how to make hockey sweaters…

  6. Kristy, I like BOTH of your suggestions. However, it should be noted that mostly now Craig outsources his sweater making to the sweatshops overseen by “The Sweater Lady”. Personally, I don’t think he even knows a skein from a stockinette, nevermind a stitch, a knit or purl.
