The World is Flat

Just received a book in the mail from Grandma W the other day called The World is Flat, which is a very detailed synopsis of the globalization phenomenon that has been occurring over the past 5-10 years. While some of the information discussed we already know, much of the news is frightening. Did you know that there are some McDonalds restaurants that have a service counter representative taking your order from India who then communicate that order to the cooks inside? Yes, cost effectiveness ladies and gentlemen, the sign of our time. From what I have read so far, which isn’t much, this book is a must read for all of us to get a better/different perspective about how our world has changed and what that means for all of us in the future.

  1. I love this book - mainly because I am a tech geek but it puts everything into a whole new perspective!
