In the heart of Dalian, Kai Fa Qu (Development Zone) you will find the surreal boundaries of Five Color City. What makes this place so strange? Well, for starters, the recent revitalization to the infastructure has the place looking like a hybrid between Star Trek and Alice and Wonderland on acid. Also, in Five Color City it would not be uncommon to see happy conservative families playing a friendly game of badminton alongside “ladies of night” dressed in their colorful silk dresses. Anyone who is anyone in the 15-35 age bracket goes to Five Color City every night to rollerskate (not blade), hacky sack, kareoke, and, hacky sack again. It is an absolute bizzare scene. So, if you ever find yourself in Dalian, Kai Fa Qu be sure to drop by and visit to check out the sights and sounds (and don’t forget your badminton racquet!)
